Now, everything can happen electronically in a matter of seconds. Not only is it possible to gain access to stock prices virtually instantly, it is also possible for the technology to carry out near instant evaluations. This gives the institutional investors access to near instant buying and selling signals.

There is however a downside to the financial organizations. It accounts for why investment banking has had a somewhat tarnished reputation in recent years. Much of it is due to the possibility of stock traders trading their own account using insider information which they are supposed to be relaying for clients entirely for themselves. This is strictly illegal, and modern technology also makes it far more easier to police and therefore far harder for the criminal to carry out.
